At EO Dent Dental Clinics, we continue to stand by the importance of good oral health for elderly people — just as we always have. The project “A Better Life for Our Parents” is one of the initiatives through which we have helped many elderly people regain their smiles, and it continues to this day.

The project was launched in 2013. It was created through a partnership between EO Dent Dental Clinics, the Bredent Group – Germany, and Dentatechnika, the official representative of the Bredent Group in Bulgaria. The initiative continues today with the goal of being renewed every year.

For EO Dent Dental Clinic, the results of the major social project “A Better Life for Our Parents” reveal two sides:
on one hand, the satisfaction and joy of providing free dental and implant treatment to patients in need; on the other hand, concern over the alarming statistics regarding the overall oral health of elderly Bulgarian patients.

Among all examined individuals:

• 425 patients were completely edentulous in both the upper and lower jaw;
• 321 patients were edentulous only in the upper jaw;
• 197 patients were edentulous only in the lower jaw;
• 128 patients were facing imminent tooth loss.

Among the completely edentulous patients, only 50% had dentures.
Of those patients:

• only 15% use their dentures for eating due to discomfort;
• 35% wear them only during social occasions.

The remaining 50% do not have dentures at all.

These numbers are concerning. Nevertheless, at EO Dent, we remain hopeful.
